Before you start
You need Local Password Vault installed, your .lpvbackup file (from Settings → Quick Actions → Secure Backup), and the backup password you set when that backup was made. That password is separate from your vault master password unless you chose the same one on purpose.
Replace All removes existing entries in the vault and replaces them with the backup. Use only when you intend to wipe the current vault contents.
Restore in the app
1 Open Settings
Unlock the app if needed, then open Settings (gear icon).
2 Start Restore Secure Backup
Under Quick Actions, choose Restore Secure Backup.
3 Choose your backup file
Click Choose File (or equivalent) and select your .lpvbackup file from USB, cloud folder, or wherever you stored it.
4 Enter the backup password
Type the password you set when you created this backup. If the app rejects it, you may be using a different backup file or an older password—try another backup copy if you have one.
5 Pick merge or replace
Merge adds entries from the backup without removing what is already in the vault. Replace All clears current entries and loads only what is in the backup.
6 Confirm restore
Click Restore and wait for confirmation. When finished, the vault should unlock with your restored data available.
New computer or reinstall
Install the app and activate your license if required. Then use the same Restore Secure Backup flow above. Your .license file (from purchase) is only for activation; vault data comes from the .lpvbackup file.

If something goes wrong
- Confirm the file extension is .lpvbackup and the file was created by Local Password Vault.
- Try another backup copy if you keep dated backups.
- Remember the backup password is the one set at backup time, not necessarily your current master password.
